In the heart of the American continent, 485 km (301 miles) north of the Equator, Jorge Tadeo Lozano University is located in the center of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. 2.600 meters (8.530 feet) above sea level on the Andes Mountains. Its branches reach the Caribbean Sea, with its campus located in the historic center of Cartagena and in the tropical paradise of Santa Marta. Since 1954 “La Tadeo”, as the university is popular known, has earned a prominent position in the national academic environment through its development of creativity and search for truth based on knowledge.

Taking up the ideals of the Botanical Expedition, the University focuses its efforts on training of competent, critical and creative persons, with projection to research in different areas of knowledge. We educate people capable to assume their commitment to knowledge, recognizing the complexity of phenomena and with a clear awareness of respect for others as well as the environment. Contribute to social, business, scientific and aesthetic development of the Colombian nation in the international context.

Universidad Central was founded in 1966 by a group of illustrious educators, whose aim is to extend access to high education to all the social sectors. Since that moment its activities have focused on excellence and social projection and this is affirmed in the Development Plan and the Institutional Educative Project.  The University has a National High Quality Accreditation, granted by Colombia’s Ministry of Education in January 2019.

The University welcomed students in 19 graduate, 7 specialization, and 10 masters programs, in two campuses located in the country’s capital, the city of Bogotá. The academic offer is organized in three schools: engineering and sciences, economics and administration, and social, humanities and arts."
