Majority of people lives in cities. The urban agglomeration is the space where people develop their life projects. For this reason, it is important to establish how the cities can improve or impair the quality of life of its inhabitants. The aim of this research is to analyze how the access to primary goods impacts the quality of life of the city inhabitants, in this case Bogotá DC during the period 2003-2011.

The method selected to analyze this situation was the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), designed by Alkire and Foster, which was adapted to Colombia by the National Planning Department. MPI provides the way to assess how the provision of primary goods, which a society decides to offer to their members, can impact in the quality of life of the citizens.

This research follow the methodology based on the disaggregated analysis of different dimensions and indicators that make part of the MPI for Colombia and analyze their results for Bogotá. Moreover, it would try to establish the main causes that affect the quality of life and how this information may be useful for the formulation of public policies.
